Random thoughts...

If a place that produces Wine is called a Winery ... why isn't there a place called a Cheesery ??? The many mysteries I fail to understand :P

Irony of our times!

Everybody has an opinion these days.. the irony of our times is that the one's who know the least seem to have the most vocal opinion and the ones who know the most keep quiet and watch the show!

Time for a change – Navigating the uncharted?

“The purpose of life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave with a well-preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, completely worn out, yelling and screaming – “Holy sh*t what a ride!” – My friend Mike.

Sometimes an odd ball email can get a lot started. Mike, I owe you one for this quote.

It’s been 5 years and a few months now since I started working for this company. Over the 5 years I moved into many roles and the one that I loved to be a part of the most is the current one. Launching new products in the market and helping in improving the manufacturing facility. Along the way were many challenges that needed to be overcome. Every time one came up I thought this is worst one and then I got over it to find another which was worse. Makes you think the others were a cake walk. Well, so is life I guess.

Anyways, after so many (or as many say, so few!) years I have finally decided to quit and head back home to build my own Enterprise. While a lot of it is unclear at the moment about what the outcome of this move will be, I am sure things will get better if I put in the same amount of dedication and hard work. May 28th is my last day with my current employer and after a 2 month notice period this seems like eternity before I’ll be able to head home.

The decision wasn’t easy at all. There’s never a time to change your situation if you already are in your comfort zone but then that’s what change is for and then as some may say – It’s my “weird sense of adventure”!. There was family to take care of back home and then the future of manufacturing in the West remains questionable even in the hands of big Corporations and Governments. India seems the to be the new World and still seems to have a lot to give to the world and more so in Manufacturing and Knowledge Management. Even though all’s not well in India but there is a ray of hope – not because of a deliberate attempt on the part of the Bureaucracy but surely on the part of Industry, Expats and a select gathering of people who want to drive change and make a better India for everyone. I'm sure that's the same all around the world right now but the west is disappointing because of its focus on MBA's and short term quick gains versus looking at the long term.

Enough about my patriotic rant! So back home I’m headed of into the world of Custom Engineering design and development. Its going to be slow building upon the foundation my father left behind but its sure going to be one hell of a ride!

Watch for more updates about my move back home and updates on my progress!
